Supporting A Community

Newsletter Article - May 2007

Of the many ways Cape Cod is unique, our non-profit community’s vitality and diversity must rank right up there with our beautiful beaches and the National Seashore.

At The Cape Cod Voice(The Voice), we’ve tried to support that community and connect with it in a bunch of ways over six years of publishing. Now, with help from the Cape Cod Center for Sustainability (SCC), we’ve expanded that outreach in an intriguing way, both in print and on our website.

In every issue of The Voice, we feature one non-profit organization from the many who give so much to the Cape. That group gets space in our publication to offer its message, much like an ad from any business. Other supportive businesses and SCC cover the costs for that ad, so the non-profit organization can get their message out for FREE!

Additionally, we feature the ad in the Community Spotlight section of our website at www.capecodvoice.com/capecodcommunity.html. Here you will also find a "Community Directory" of local organizations interested to enhance the Cape's quality of life, an “Events Calendar” which provides event information about Cape Cod–based nonprofits and a “Volunteer Opportunities” section where individuals are encouraged to post information about themselves, their interests, and their ambitions and local organizations are encouraged to post their needs. The goal is to connect these individuals with networks of other people and organizations that might utilize their skills effectively and who share common interests and agendas.

The Website is a great collaboration between The Voice, SCC and Snap2Help and is one more way to support a crucial piece of our social fabric, and our economy.

This is the level, with links that are direct and grassroots, at which communities really build strength and identity – though of course those beautiful beaches help too!
